When it comes to growing your business on social media, your audience is everything. Your followers are the ones giving you reviews, and sharing your content, it can truly make or break your business just by how they respond to your postings.
However, unless your audience is truly reacting and responding to your content, there’s no way of knowing how they feel about you or what you’re selling. You can have hundreds and thousands of followers. But, unless they are actively, liking, commenting, and sharing, it’s the equivalent of having zero followers.
So how do you get your audience to participate in what your page is up to? The main producer of an engaged audience is what is called a “Call to action.” If you post a new product on your page, but don’t ask the audience to engage, they are simply going to scroll past and hopefully store that information for later. Always make sure your post is followed up with a request or question. Some examples would be:
- “Be sure to comment on what you’re favorite piece from this collection is.”
- “What are some ways you use this in your home?”
- “Would this make a great gift for the holidays? Tag your friends below!”
Now once you have achieved your goal of having your audience engage with your postings, how do you keep them around? It is essential to make your audience feel heard. If they take the time to comment, make sure you’re commenting back to keep the conversation going. Who knows, you may get some great feedback. Even if the response is less than ideal to what you want, ask that commenter to contact you to resolve the situation. Letting them know their thought is validated is key to receiving a new customer or even bringing back an old one.
Always make sure you know your audience. Keep your verbiage and postings similar to what you are trying to represent. If you are trying to sell office products, perhaps clean and sleek postings work better than pink and sparkles. If you’re trying to sell toys, bright colors and fun fonts would certainly be up your alley instead.
And finally, make sure you know when to post and how to watch your analytics. And that’s how AIM is here to help. Let us learn about your audience and engage with them. We’ll do the hard work for you.
